Hue Jackson Fired Only Hours Before Reggie McKenzie’s Introductory Press Conference

The Oakland Raiders have fired another head coach, according to ESPN. Hue Jackson was informed he has been fired as the team's head coach, which is somewhat of a surprise.

The team hired a new general manager, Reggie McKenzie, last week and often general managers want to hire their own head coaches so from that standpoint this isn't a surprise. But it was just a couple of months ago that Jackson helped orchestrate the Carson Palmer trade and was the toast of the town in Oakland as the Raiders took command of the AFC West. The honeymoon ended when Oakland lost to the Chargers in the regular season finale and missed out on the playoffs.

What I find interesting about Jackson’s firing is the timing of it all. It comes only hours before McKenzie was to be officially introduced at a press conference at the Raiders facility. The press conference is scheduled for Tuesday afternoon.

So McKenzie’s first press conference as a Raider goes from an introductory setting to answering questions about why he fired the head coach.
