The Jacksonville Jaguars have asked for permission to interview Carolina Panthers offensive coordinator Rob Chudzinski for their open head coaching position, the Associated Press reported. Neither team has made the request public, but it would not be shocking if it where true.
Jaguars Want To Interview Rob Chudzinski For Head Coaching Job
Jaguars reportedly request permission to talk to Panthers OC Rob Chudzinski about open head coaching job.
The Jaguars may have won just one fewer game than the Panthers, but they got there in decidedly different ways. Chudzinski led the Panthers to the fifth best scoring offense (25.4) and the seventh best offense by yards per game (389.8). Meanwhile, the Jaguars gained an average of just 259.3 yards per game (32nd) and scored just 15.2 points per game (28th).
The Jaguars would also be hoping that Chudzinski could do the same thing for rookie quarterback Blaine Gabbert as he did for record-setting rookie Cam Newton. Despite entering the league with questions all around him, Newton threw for 4,051 yards and 21 touchdowns. He also ran for 14 touchdowns.
