Indianapolis Colts at New York Jets: betting odds, preview, pick and trends

Is this a perfect letdown spot for Indy? Handicappers think so and the betting public is starting to think so as well, as more money pours in on the New York Jets.

The New York Jets are favored to break a two-game home losing streak in Week 6 against a team in a perfect handicapping letdown hole.

The Jets host the Indianapolis Colts, fresh off an emotional upset of the Green Bay Packers, at Metlife Stadium. New York was an early 3-point favorite on NFL lines at sportsbooks such as Bovada, but the number was being bet higher.

In one of the most surprising and emotional stories of the week, the Indianapolis Colts overcame an 18-point deficit in the second half to upset the Green Bay Packers 30-27, dedicating the game ball to their coach, Chuck Pagano, who is battling leukemia.

With the win, Andrew Luck and the Colts improved to 2-2 SU and ATS. The Colts lost their only road game of the season 41-21 when they faced the Chicago Bears in Week 1.

Mark Sanchez struggled again Monday night, failing to complete 50 percent of his passes for the fourth straight game as the Jets fell to 2-3 SU. They did cover the spread as a nine point underdog to improve to 3-2 ATS, but with Sanchez’s poor play and the injuries to Darrelle Revis and Santonio Holmes, that isn’t likely to cheer up many Jets fans.

Fans, bettors, and national media continue to wonder how long it will be before the Jets give Tim Tebow a shot at quarterback, but Rex Ryan announced that Sanchez will be the starter again this week.

This is a tricky game to predict. We have such a small sample size of Andrew Luck on the road (one game), and it was a bad performance; but how much of that had to do with Chicago’s defense and not the road crowd? Will Indianapolis be emotionally spent after last week’s wild win, or carry the momentum into this week?

There is a strong case to be made for Indianapolis, but New York was 8-2 SU in its previous 10 home games before dropping its last two. And as bad as the Jets looked in those two games, San Francisco and Houston are good enough to make any team look bad.

We lean towards the Colts being spent, and the Jets refusing to lose their third straight game at home and coming away with the win and cover.
