It’s too easy to make fun of what happened, so let’s try empathy as a nice change of pace. Here is how this play went down:
1. Ball is damp. Have you ever thrown a damp football? It’s like... really hard!
2. It pops straight up in the air. Again, DAMP
3. Physics: Where are they? Where is this devil ball going? Not left, not behind, nothing right, wait... it went left?!
4. Big men should not have sure hands.
In the end I think it’s clear this was not Christian Ponders’ fault at all -- except for that pesky part that was everything.
