Quarterbacks rule the NFL and that’s no different in fantasy news where they rule the headlines. There were a couple of huge performances in Week 6, some duds, and one very costly injury. We’re trying a new breakdown of groups so that you can navigate these posts a little easier.

The Good
Aaron Rodgers against the Texans (MAKE THAT 'THE GREAT')
Rodgers joined elite Packers company on Sunday night when he finally tied the legendary Matt Flynn for most touchdowns in a game in franchise history. The Texans had an elite defense until last night and now who knows what to expect without Brian Cushing. The AFC seems to be getting destroyed by the NFC right now and the Ravens and Texans immediately look worse because of injury. There are only three winning teams in the AFC and that is pending the Monday Night game between Chargers and Broncos.
With a 6 TD, 0 INT night, Rodgers immediately goes from "Ho hum" Rodgers season to "Oh yeah, this guy might be the best" and he didn't even have Greg Jennings.
Robert Griffin III against the Vikings (THIS GUY MIGHT BE GOOD)
He was my guy going into the NFL draft and I think the Redskins got a steal for only a few draft picks! (That makes it sound a lot cheaper than it was. It was pricy.) But Griffin looks like one of the best rookie QBs to ever come along after six games and his 76-yard run against Minnesota is quickly becoming thing of legend.
Coming off the worst game of his career (which is so long) Griffin responded with 182 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT and 138 yards rushing. He hasn’t thrown many touchdowns but he’s been incredibly accurate, limited mistakes, is amazing with his legs, and has rare big-play ability. RG3 is the best guy with a 3 in his name since 3J in Family Matters.
Josh Freeman against the Chiefs (MORE-GAIN FREEMAN)
Turns out the Chiefs are terrible. I would like to see a repeat performance before I buy his 328 yard, 3 TD performance on Sunday. He's been rather awful up until then. The Saints provide a soft opportunity to do that.
Russell Wilson against the Patriots (THE SHORTER THEY COME, THE HARDER THEY TALL)
Wilson doesn’t need six feet to go deep. RW1 had three passes over 40 yards against New England and finished with a career day of 293 yards, 3 TD, 0 INT and has instantly increased his rookie numbers to respectable ones. Of course, New England’s pass defense is awful and should be taken advantage of. But this was a special performance from a third-round rookie that many doubted.
Honorable Mention: Michael Vick, Tom Brady, Andy Dalton
The Bad
Matt Ryan against the Raiders (INTERESTING WAY TO GET TO 6-0)
I guess maybe it IS a little early to do MVP talk in the first month of the season, as some were doing with Ryan. Sure, Atlanta beat Oakland and are undefeated. It just took a comeback and a 55-yard field goal to do so. Ryan had 1 TD and 3 INT, doubling his interception total on the season. In fact, he has six interceptions now in his last four games. He might be more Philip Rivers than Drew Brees.
Andrew Luck against the Jets (HARD TO FALL OFF THAT MOUNTAIN)
The Colts were coming off of an emotional, hard-fought, Pagano-inspired victory against the Packers. Maybe it took too much out of them and led to their blowout against the Jets. Luck had 6 TD and 2 INT in his last three but had no touchdowns and 2 INT on Sunday with 50% completions. The rookie comparisons to Peyton Manning are becoming more apt.
Alex Smith against the Giants (OH THAT ALEX SMITH)
Smith played more like “Bust” Alex Smith or “Tight End” Alex Smith against New York, throwing 3 INT and 0 TD in the loss. He was off to a very hot start this year but I remembered him doing that last year before being lackluster in the final eleven games of the year. He’s been going good since the 2011 playoffs but he’s still not an every week fantasy QB and likely will never be.
Matt Schaub against the Packers (NOT A 6 TD PERFORMANCE)
On the other side of the ball, Schaub had 0 TD and 2 INT as the Texans try to figure out if they’re going to be elite or not.
The Injured
Kevin Kolb left the Cardinals game against the Bills with a rib injury and will be further evaluated as Arizona possibly continues to rotate quarterbacks through different injuries. Skelton came in and was terrible, not doing anything to win back a job that he wasn't very good at. Arizona has a really difficult upcoming schedule: @Min, SF, @GB, Bye, @ATL. Their best chance for a win might be Bye and that's only if Kolb returns.
The 4-0 Cardinals might turn into the more familiar 4-6 Cardinals.
49ers tackle Joe Staley might not be protecting Alex Smith on Thursday after leaving with a concussion.
