DeMarco Murray injury: Cowboys RB ruled out for Week 7

While an MRI showed no broken bones, it did show ligament damage for the Cowboys’ running back.

After an MRI on the sprained left foot of DeMarco Murray showed ligament damage, the Cowboys have ruled out the second-year running back for Sunday's Week 7 game against the Carolina Panthers.

Murray suffered the injury late in the second quarter of a 31-29 loss to the Baltimore Ravens, and while there were initial fears of a fractured ankle, an MRI revealed no broken bones. However, the injury is significant enough to keep Murray out for Week 7, and he will be evaluated on a week-by-week basis thereafter.

In 2012, Murray has started each of the first five games of the season for the Cowboys, accumulating 330 yards rushing on 75 attempts with one rushing touchdown. He has also contributed out of the back field with 17 receptions and 118 yards receiving.

The 2011 season for Murray ended prematurely with a fractured right ankle and high ankle sprain after he started seven games and appeared in 13.
