Browns vs. Colts, Week 7: A ‘tough loss to take’ for Cleveland

The Cleveland Browns fell to the Indianapolis Colts Sunday, 17-13, in a game that was prime for the Browns' taking.

Trent Richardson's eight carries led the team, but he managed only eight yards. With an almost non-existent running game, Brandon Weeden and the Browns were forced to throw. Weeden was 25-of-41 for 264 yards and two touchdowns, and he had Cleveland within striking distance all game long.

However, writes Chris Pokorny of SB Nation’s Cleveland Browns blog, Dawgs by Nature, the Browns could not overcome the miscues to grab a game that could have been theirs.

It was one of those games where despite it being a close contest, it was a very frustrating afternoon for Browns fans... This is a tough loss to take. Although the Colts put together some really long drives, if the Browns don’t have one of those two huge miscues (the botched hold, and the dropped touchdown), the outcome could have ended up in Cleveland’s favor.

The dropped touchdown Pokorny references was a deep pass to wide receiver Josh Gordon late in the fourth quarter. A perfect pass from Weeden hit Gordon in the chest, but Gordon could not hang on and the ball fell harmlessly to the ground. It was Cleveland's last legitimate scoring chance.

The loss drops the Browns to 1-6 on the season, a mark that puts them in last place in the AFC North. Their next contest comes next week at home against the San Diego Chargers.
