Browns vs. Colts, Week 7: Indy finds a running game

One of the struggles for the Indianapolis Colts in recent years has been running the football. Even when they reached the Super Bowl three seasons ago Indianapolis had one of the worst running games in the NFL, so Sunday's 17-13 win over the Cleveland Browns was a bit of a surprise when it came on the strength of the running game.

Brown, normally the starter for Indianapolis, was out with an injury, but Vick Ballard rushed for 84 yards, Delone Carter also had a solid day, and even Andrew Luck rushed for two touchdowns as SB Nation's Stampede Blue was elated with the results:

Even the quarterback got in on the rushing attack. Andrew Luck scored the Colts’ only two touchdowns of the day, both of them on the ground. In the first quarter he stood in the pocket looking for someone to break open but when no one did, he took off scrambling up the middle for the three yard score. Then in the second quarter Luck rolled right and didn’t stop running, keeping his eyes downfield for someone to break open but then running it in for the five yard rush. The last Colts quarterback to rush for two touchdowns in the same game? Ricky Turner in 1988.

Luck's two rushing touchdowns marked the first time since 1988 that a Colts quarterback has rushed for two touchdowns in one game. Luck still struggled somewhat through the air for Indianapolis, but he has already matched the victory total that Peyton Manning had in his first season with the Colts.
