Maurice Jones-Drew injury: Jaguars concerned RB could be done for the season

The Jaguars may be without their top offensive weapon for the rest of 2012.

Jacksonville Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew may be done for the season with a foot injury suffered in the team's overtime loss to the Oakland Raiders on Sunday. Jaguars head coach Mike Mularkey mentioned that the team does not yet know the exact nature of Jones-Drew's issue, but commented that it may be a Lisfranc injury, according to Pro Football Talk.

Lisfranc injuries typically require months to heal, as PFT points out. That could possibly take Jones-Drew through the end of the season. Mularkey confirmed that he will certainly be out for Jacksonville's Week 8 game against the Packers.

Jones-Drew carried the ball just two times on Sunday before leaving the game. If he is done for the year, it is a big blow to the Jaguars offense. Jones-Drew rushed for a career-high 1,606 yards in 2011. He has carried the ball 86 times for 414 yards and a touchdown this season.

Rashad Jennings may get more carries in Jones-Drew's absence. He gained just 44 yards on 21 carries against Oakland.
