Maurice Jones-Drew injury: Jaguars RB finally able to run

Maurice Jones-Drew says his foot is finally healed and he’s able to run again.

Jacksonville Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew is finally healed from his Lisfranc injury and he's able to start running again, according to the team's official website.

Jones-Drew’s 2012 season was cut short by a Lisfranc injury and he hasn’t been able to even run on the injured foot. He didn’t take part in OTAs or minicamps and put on some weight in the process. Now that his foot is healed, Jones-Drew is focusing on strengthening his ankle and shedding the added weight in the process. Jones-Drew says that losing weight will be a priority.

From the team’s website:

“The weight’s going to come off as I work out,” Jones-Drew said. “All I could do (after surgery) was eat. With this injury, you don’t want to break the screws and have to get the surgery over again. I couldn’t move.”

General manager Dave Caldwell believes that Jones-Drew should be 100 percent when training camp opens. This isn’t the first time he’s come back from a major injury -- in 2011 he had microfracture surgery and went on to lead the league with 1,606 rushing yards.
