Maurice Jones-Drew injury: Jaguars RB begins jogging

Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew took the next step in his rehab as he began jogging on Monday.

Jacksonville Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew continues to progress in his rehab as he began light jogging on Monday according to Gene Frenette. Jones-Drew also said that he is recovering from a Lisfranc injury, which former head coach Mike Mularkey had previously denied was the injury.

Jones-Drew injured his foot on Oct. 21 and did not play again in 2012, limiting him to just six games on the season. MJD did not undergo surgery until Dec. 28, and was in a walking boot until late March. Now that he is jogging, he seems to be completely immersed in the rehab process and should be ready for the start of the 2013 season.

Next season marks the final year on a five-year contract for Jones-Drew in which he is scheduled to make $4.95 million. MJD held out most of 2012 training camp and preseason in hopes of signing a contract extension, but never reached a deal. After his injury, Jones-Drew will need to show he has not lost a step during the 2013 season in order to earn a new deal.
