Atlanta Falcons vs Philadelphia Eagles: Betting odds, preview, trends, pick

Philly has never lost in this position under Coach Andy Reid - coming off a bye week. And both the Eagles and Falcons have been consistent UNDER plays in this post-bye scenario. Philly remains favored by just a single point.

The Philadelphia Eagles have never lost when coming off of a bye under Head Coach Andy Reid, and will look to improve to 14-0 SU off of the bye under Reid when they host the Atlanta Falcons at Lincoln Financial Field this Sunday.

Philadelphia is a 1-point home favorite (according to Bovada’s NFL odds and those at most online sportsbooks) and one is cheering for the Eagles to continue that winning streak.

“It’s the biggest decision of the weekend so far and we have 75 per cent on the Falcons at +1,” said Kevin Bradley, sportsbook manager at Bovada.

Philadelphia came into the year with a lot of positive hype after finishing last season on a 4-0 SU and ATS run, but the Eagles are off to a pedestrian 3-3 SU and 2-4 ATS start. Turnover issues and untimely defensive lapses have done the Eagles in this season as all but one of their games (a 27-6 loss to Arizona) has been decided by a field goal or less.

The Eagles replaced their defensive coordinator over the bye week and hope that Reid’s post-bye magic will help turn this season around. But injuries to their offensive line continue to cause problems for protection and for the running game.

The Atlanta Falcons will also be coming out of their bye week this week, but they’ve had a lot more success through the early part of this season as the NFL’s only remaining undefeated team at 6-0 SU and 4-2 ATS.

Atlanta avoided close calls against Carolina and Oakland at home to remain undefeated, and have made big plays on both sides of the ball when necessary.

This game could end up being a defensive struggle; four of Atlanta’s last five games and six of Philadelphia’s last eight games have gone UNDER the posted total, and seven of the last nine games between these two teams have also gone UNDER the total.

There are two glaring trends favoring Philadelphia heading into this game; The Eagles are 13-0 SU coming off of a bye week under Andy Reid and are 8-2 U and 7-2-1 ATS in their last 10 games against Atlanta. Vick has put up big numbers against his former team in the past, too, and would love to hand Atlanta its first loss of the season.

Giving up only one point, it is hard to go against the Eagles in this spot.
