RGIII injury update: Redskins QB is questionable, game-time decision coming

The status of Redskins’ quarterback Robert Griffin III will be announced right before game time on Sunday.

The status of Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III for Week 15's contest with the Cleveland Browns will be determined on Saturday night or Sunday morning, according to head coach Mike Shanahan on Friday afternoon.

The announcement as to whether Griffin will be the starter will be made right before game time.

According to Jay Glazer of Fox Sports, Redskins players informed him that Griffin was only able to participate in individual drills and did not take any reps with the first team. Backup quarterback Kirk Cousins has taken all the first-team reps.

Griffin was listed as questionable in the team's official injury report on Friday. The rookie quarterback suffered a Grade 1 LCL sprain in the fourth quarter of Week 14's game against the Baltimore Ravens. The injury was sustained when Baltimore defensive end Haloti Ngata made contact with the area just above Griffin's right knee. After leaving the game for one play, Griffin returned to the field for four more before exiting for good.

Griffin was able to return to practice in a limited capacity on Wednesday. He was also limited in practice on Thursday and Friday, but Shanahan expressed that he was continually improving.
