It's been a rough day for Rams running back Steven Jackson as time winds down against the San Francisco 49ers. The veteran back has ran the ball 14 times and gained just 24 yards without a touchdown. Jackson has made up some of that ground in the air with five catches for 69 yards.
Steven Jackson stats: Little production rushing the ball for Rams veteran
As expected, San Francisco is shutting down the veteran running back.
The 49ers are one of the toughest defenses in the NFL. San Francisco ranks 4th in total run defense, second in rushing touchdowns allowed, and third in yards per carry allowed. Jackson, in his last season before turning 30, came into the game with 724 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns in his ninth year.
Given that information, Jackson should have come into the game ranked as a low-end RB2 or high-end flex play in fantasy leagues, but there is still time for Jackson to potentially score a touchdown as the Rams trail 10-2 with about six minutes to play in the game.
