RGIII injury: Redskins await MRI results on ‘quite sore’ rookie QB

Mike Shanahan said after the game that quarterback Robert Griffin III was ‘quite sore,’ but the severity of his knee injury would not be known until results of an MRI came back.

The Washington Redskins won their fourth straight game on Sunday with a thrilling overtime victory against the Ravens, but it wasn't all good news at FedEx Field. Superstar rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III sustained a knee injury late in the game, and fellow rookie Kirk Cousins was forced to finish things. The Redskins announced the injury as a knee sprain during the game.

The exact injury to RGIII’s leg is still unknown, and head coach Mike Shanahan said after the game that the Redskins await the results of an MRI. According to Grant Paulsen of 106.7 The Fan in DC, Shanahan said that Griffin was “quite sore” after the game, and added that the rookie’s eagerness to re-enter that game was hopefully a positive sign. But until the MRI results come back, Shanahan, and the legion of Redskins fans, will be in the dark.

The Redskins are right in thick of the NFC East race, trailing the Giants by only a half game. Washington will try to make it five in a row and keep the momentum rolling next week in Cleveland. Of course, RGIII's status will be the biggest factor in their ability to do so.
