Mike Jenkins Trade Rumors: Colts Trying To Deal With Dallas For Cornerback, Per Report

The Indianapolis Colts are trying to swing a deal with the Dallas Cowboys to acquire cornerback Mike Jenkins. According to a report from Adam Schefter, the Colts have made several offers, and are believed to have one that the Cowboys are still considering.

Jenkins became the odd man out once Dallas signed free agent cornerback Brandon Carr and traded up in the 2012 NFL Draft to acquire LSU corner Morris Claiborne. Rumors of Jenkins being available surfaced the day after the 1st-round of the draft.

Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett recently pushed back on Jenkins trade talk, insisting that he was not on the block. Schefter’s report says Jenkins is available for the right price.

Dallas’ asking price is unknown. The Colts’ offer said to be under consideration was described as “compelling” in Friday’s report by a source in Indianapolis.

Jenkins has not attended the Cowboys’ OTAs this spring. He is currently in the last year of his contract, which would pay him only $1.052 million this season. A 1st-round pick in 2008, he started 12 games last season, his third as one of the Cowboys’ starting corners.
