Denver Broncos defensive end Elvis Dumervil will not be charged despite his arrest earlier this offseason.
Elvis Dumervil To File Lawsuit Against Miami Police Department, According To Report
Dumervil was arrested in July for felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after allegedly brandishing a weapon in his waistband during a traffic altercation. Dumervil was accused of showing a gun to another driver after apparently being cut off during slow traffic.
The Broncos lineman had said at the the time that the “truth will come out” and that he was innocent of the charges, with those close to Dumervil stating that he was not carrying a gun and that neither the Land Rover nor a confiscated gun belonged to him.

Dumervil has maintained his innocence in the incident, telling the Denver Post that “the truth will come out.“ Sources close to Dumervil said that he wasn’t carrying a gun, nor did he own the gun confiscated within the Land Rover he was driving.
Police were called when Dumervil allegedly confronted another driver who had tried to merge in front the Land Rover in the midst of standstill traffic. There is no word yet whether the NFL will take disciplinary action.

On Saturday night in Miami Beach, Dumervil got into a verbal altercation with the driver of another car after that car attempted to merge in front of Dumervil’s while traffic was at a standstill. According to witness accounts, Dumervil then approached the other car and allegedly showed a firearm stored in his waistband.
Dumervil backed off and returned to his car, allowing the other car to attempt to retreat from the scene and was, along with a passenger, led out of his car at gunpoint by police.
