Elvis Dumervil's weekend arrest for felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon was the result of a traffic dispute in which the Broncos defensive end allegedly brandished a gun, according to NFL.com's Gregg Rosenthal.
Elvis Dumervil Allegedly Showed Gun Before Arrest
On Saturday night in Miami Beach, Dumervil got into a verbal altercation with the driver of another car after that car attempted to merge in front of Dumervil’s while traffic was at a standstill. According to witness accounts, Dumervil then approached the other car and allegedly showed a firearm stored in his waistband.
Dumervil backed off and returned to his car, allowing the other car to attempt to retreat from the scene and was, along with a passenger, led out of his car at gunpoint by police.
This isn’t Dumervil’s first brush with the law — assault and disturbing the peace charges were filed against him in 2010, but later dropped — and that could lead to the NFL viewing him as a repeat offender when deciding on whether to mete out punishment.
