There were rumblings in the past month that Baltimore Ravens safety Ed Reed, who is in the final year of a six-year contract, may have considered being a holdout from training camp in hopes of gaining an extension. Reed shot those rumors down early and officially ended speculation on Wednesday, as he reported for Ravens training camp.

Garrett Downing at the official Ravens website reported that Reed has arrived for camp on Wednesday to prepare for his 11th season with the team. Reed has spoken several times this offseason about wanting to play for several more years, but has also publicly discussed thinking about retirement.

If he is able to prove throughout the rest of 2012 that he still has plenty left in the tank, he may end up getting a multi-year extension from the club that will allow him to end his career with the Ravens.
