Mikel Leshoure was selected by the Detroit Lions in the second round of last year's NFL Draft, but an ACL injury early in training camp forced him to miss his entire rookie season. The former Illinois standout has missed the better portion of this year's training camp with a hamstring injury, too, but he was able to return to practice on Wednesday for the first time in August.
Mikel Leshoure Returns To Lions Practice
It's unclear where exactly a healthy Leshoure falls on the Lions depth chart, but with Jahvid Best still dealing with concussions, there's a chance that LeShoure could claim a bulk of the Detroit carries with a solid preseason as he competes with Kevin Smith, Keiland Williams and Stefan Logan.
Unfortunately for Leshoure and the Lions, however, he’ll have to sit the first two games of the season -- regardless of where he’s at on the depth chart -- due to a suspension handed down from the NFL after a pair of marijuana busts in the offseason.
