New York Giants offensive tackle Will Beatty has reportedly been "shut down" by the organization because of a back issue.
Giants ‘Shut Down’ OT Will Beatty
Beatty has been battling his aching back during training camp and he missed the Giants' first preseason game against the Jacksonville Jaguars because of it. Beatty had returned to practice on Sunday after missing time. The offensive lineman being in and out of practice has been a recurring theme since spring practice.
Giants head coach Tom Coughlin showed some frustration with the latest 'shut down' of Beatty. "He's back on the shelf," coach Tom Coughlin said after practice. "He's back in the training room." About the possibility of seeing Beatty against the Jets on Saturday, Coughlin said, "I have no idea."
Beatty has started 16 games (10 in 2011) and played 34 for the Giants since joining the team in 2009. Beatty was not playing during the Giants’ Super Bowl run last season due to an eye injury.
