It was only a matter of time before the Giants signed free agent defensive tackle Marcus Thomas after reports surfaced earlier Thursday that the two parties were close to a deal. Mike Garafolo on nj.com cites a source, via Twitter, that says Thomas has indeed signed a one-year deal with the defending Super Bowl champions.
Giants Sign DT Marcus Thomas
The Giants have a need at defensive tackle considering the season-ending injury suffered by Shaun Rogers on Monday.
The 6-foot-3, 316 pound free agent has appeared in 76 games since 2007, including 11 starts in 2011. In his career, Thomas has 147 tackles, two interceptions, a forced fumble and a sack.
Thomas rejected a one-year deal with the Broncos after expecting a much lucrative contract from the team. Now he'll get to fill a void for the Giants as they attempt to repeat as Super Bowl champs.
