Lions Claim Bill Nagy Off Waivers After Placing Drew Coleman On IR

The Detroit Lions have claimed offensive lineman Bill Nagy off waivers from the Dallas Cowboys after placing cornerback Drew Coleman on injured reserve, according to DetroitLions.com's Tim Twentyman.

Nagy, a guard/center, was waived by the Cowboys on Wednesday, the same day he underwent surgery to repair an injured ankle -- his second such surgery since the original injury occurred last year in a game against the New England Patriots. The Cowboys intended to place Nagy on IR, but he had to successfully clear waivers first, which he did not.

Nagy started four games for Dallas last season before suffering the season-ending injury. The Cowboys drafted the University of Wisconsin product in the seventh round of the 2011 NFL draft.

Coleman, meanwhile, has been dealing with concussion issues. The Lions signed the former Jacksonville Jaguars corner to a one-year deal just three weeks ago. He was cut by the Jags in May. Prior to that, Coleman spent five years with the New York Jets, accumulating 67 games played, including eight starts.
