Mikel Leshoure Returns To Practice, Hopes To Play Saturday

Detroit Lions running back Mikel Leshoure went through team drills in practice Sunday for the first time since the second day of training camp and hopes to play in Saturday's preseason game against the Oakland Raiders, according to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free-Press.

The Lions need all the help they can get at running back with Jahvid Best battling concussions and Stefan Logan missing practices with an injured ankle. Kevin Smith is the likely Week 1 starter.

Leshore, a second-round pick out of Illinois in 2011, missed the entire season last year after tearing his Achilles’ tendon. He said he wants to get his feet wet before the season starts. However, he won’t see the field before Week 3 after being suspended the first two weeks for two offseason arrests.
