Carolina Panthers linebackers Jon Beason and Thomas Davis are both on the road to recovery from their respective injuries and hope to be ready to play Week 1 in Tampa Bay. Davis injured his calf on the second night of training camp, and according to reports, he's made slow progress since then. He's also trying to come back from three surgeries to repair his ACL on the same knee.
Panthers’ Jon Beason, Thomas Davis Hope To Be Ready By Week 1
Beason doesn’t have as long a road to travel as Davis, as he recovers from a hamstring issue that didn’t keep him from participating in a walk-through on Monday. But Beason also had surgery last season after rupturing his Achilles, so there are obvious health concerns with him as well.
Still, both linebackers want to be on the field against the Buccaneers. Davis has Tuesday off, but will be back to work on Wednesday. Beason said he'll only play against the Jets in Carolina's third preseason game if he's 100 percent.
