Michael Vick Injury: Eagles QB Has Rib Contusion

Michael Vick’s MRI and CT scan have revealed no broken bones or fractured cartilage following the injury he suffered during the Philadelphia Eagles' preseason game against the New England Patriots on Monday night. The tests did, however, show that the Eagles quarterback has a rib contusion that's also affecting the soft-tissue area surrounding his ribs.

Vick left the game in the middle of the first quarter of Monday's 27-17 win after taking a shot to the ribs from Patriots LB Jermaine Cunningham. Vick underwent X-rays following the game, which came back negative. Now, the MRI and CT results have shown that there is no cartilage damage. Despite the good news, Eagles fans shouldn't expect to see Vick back under center again this preseason, as the Eagles will look to play it safe and bring back their franchise QB slowly.

Coach Andy Reid has already said, "If he didn't play again, I think he's OK." Given Vick's injury history, it is likely that the Eagles will focus on making sure he's healthy for the start of the regular season rather than trotting him out on Friday to play the Cleveland Browns.
