Andy Reid Not Concerned With Michael Vick’s Health

When the Philadelphia Eagles take the field Sunday for their season opener against the Cleveland Browns (1 p.m. ET on FOX), head coach Andy Reid will not be thinking about the health of starting quarterback Michael Vick.

“I don’t really worry about that,” Reid told WIP’s talk show host Angelo Cataldi on Wednesday, “I want him to just go play and be himself. And there’s a time and a place where he knows he’s gotta get down or out of bounds, but other than that you go play. That’s what’s made you great — you play a certain way and you go for it. And this game, I think if you asked any player they’re going to tell you they gotta catch a couple breaks here and there with the injury bug. And so hopefully this is his year where he does that.”

For over two weeks, Vick has been recovering from a rib injury he suffered during the Eagles second preseason game, Aug. 20, against the New England Patriots. Since then, Vick has not seen any on-field action as he skipped Philly's final two preseason games.

Despite the lack of live reps, Vick is scheduled to start in Sunday’s season-opener.
