Raiders eye East Coast upset Week 1 vs. Jets

Robert Deutsch-USA TODAYThe game is projected to be close, with a projected score of 15-13 in favor of the Jets according OddsShark.com. The spread is 5.5 points; Oakland has had trouble covering of late when facing AFC East squads, with a 2-7 record over the last nine contests.
The running game will likely play a major role in the outcome. The Raiders struggled to control the clock in 2013 with 2:28 taken per drive, good for 21st among all teams in that respect. On defense, they allowed 15 rushing touchdowns, which ranked 23rd.

Neither team closed last season strong against the spread with Detroit going 1-6 over its final seven games against the spread while St. Louis went 1-5-1. The teams are 3-3 over their last six head-to-head matches and are also 3-3 against the spread during that stretch.

Neither team was very good against the spread last season, but Minnesota was just 2-5-1 against the spread at home. Jacksonville finished the season 7-9 against the spread including 3-5 on the road.
Both teams struggled offensively a year ago and are relying on second-year quarterbacks. The over/under is currently set at 38, which is the lowest total of any Week 1 game. Sunday’s game will be just the fifth matchup between the two franchises with Minnesota winning three of the first four.

The Packers were 8-0 at home during the regular season last year, including 7-1 against the spread. The 49ers were an impressive 11-4-1 against the spread last season, but just 4-4 on the road.
In addition to being a dominant home team, Green Bay has also dominated the 49ers lately, winning nine of the last 10 meetings. San Francisco hasn’t beaten the Packers since 1999. Green Bay is also 7-1-2 against the spread during over their last 10 games against San Francisco.
