Bengals vs. Texans, 2013 AFC Wild Card Playoffs: Bengals offense struggles in Wild Card loss

The Bengals were bounced from the NFL playoffs Saturday losing to the Texans, 19-13. The loss featured Cincinnati’s offense struggling against Houston’s top-notch defense.

The Cincinnati Bengals' playoff run didn't last long, as Saturday they were eliminated in the Wild Card round by the Houston Texans, 19-13, at Reliant Stadium.

All game long the Bengals’ offense struggled to find rhythm, and though the team had a chance to take the lead late, it just wasn’t good enough to pull off an upset win, according to the SB Nation blog Cincy Jungle.

To really highlight the story of Cincinnati's inept offense, Andy Dalton reached positive yards passing on the previous play with an 11-yard Marvin Jones reception.

This offense was that bad.

One of the biggest reasons for the Bengals' offensive struggles was the team's inablity to get the ball into the hands of their biggest play-maker, wide receiver A.J. Green.

It wasn’t until the 10:21 mark in the third quarter that A.J. Green recorded his first reception, posting three receptions for 57 yards on Cincinnati’s second possession in the third quarter.

Cincinnati’s lack of offense forced its defense to hang on for dear life, and in the end, the Bengals were just asking for too much.

Obviously no congratulatory handshakes will be offered to Cincinnati’s offense, which didn’t offer a possession longer than three minutes until the fourth quarter.

The Bengals finish their season with a 10-7 overall record and their second straight post season appearance that ended in a first-round loss to the Texans.
