One of the 37,241 things people don’t like about Greg Schiano is that sometimes, when his team is losing and the other team is just kneeling out the clock, he asks his players to try and make a play -- to dive into the victory formation, even though there’s basically no chance of anything besides an injury happening.
Eagles take victory formation from the shotgun to avoid Greg Schiano
Chip Kelly is such an innovator, he even put a creative spin on taking kneeldowns.
The Eagles knew of this tactic, generally considered to be bush league and stupid and pointless, and adjusted their victory formation accordingly (h/t to Josh Katzowitz for noticing)
That’s right: Chip Kelly had his players take the victory formation out of the shotgun, basically a pistol formation. It’s the most Chip Kelly thing ever. And the center backs up quickly after the snap to avoid getting taken out.
The funny thing about this is that they didn’t fully adjust their victory formation -- the two players who typically stand a half-step behind the QB in case of a fumbled snap didn’t move back behind the QB -- they’re just kinda there staring at nothingness.
