As expected, running back C.J. Spiller won't be suiting up Sunday for the Buffalo Bills as they take on the New Orleans Saints. What wasn't expected is that Saints tight end Jimmy Graham, who was a long shot to play on his injured foot, will be playing.
Saints vs. Bills: C.J. Spiller out, Jimmy Graham will play
Initially expected to miss Sunday’s game, Graham has been listed as active. Spiller, as expected, will get a week to rest his injured ankle.
Graham was held out of practice most of the week and was limited on Friday as he dealt with a partially torn plantar fascia in his foot. NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport initially reported that the Saints’ primary receiving target was a “long shot” to play, but has been officially listed as active heading into the game.
Spiller has dealt with an ankle injury for over a month and was listed as doubtful going into the weekend. He’s played in all three games since suffering the injury but will be given a week off in order to fully recover.
Also inactive for the Bills are quarterbacks E.J. Manuel and Matt Flynn, linebackers Ty Powell and Manny Lawson, defensive back Justin Rogers and offensive lineman Antoine McClain.
The Saints will be without defensive end Tyrunn Walker, safety Roman Harper, cornerback Rod Sweeting, quarterback Ryan Griffin, offensive tackleTerron Armstead and running backs Travaris Cadet and Mark Ingram.
