Bills vs. Browns 2013 halftime update: Brandon Weeden steps in, Cleveland lead 17-10

Injury forced the Browns to turn to Brandon Weeden, but that didn’t stop the team from taking the lead.

The Cleveland Browns' offense took a huge hit early on Thursday night as quarterback Brian Hoyer was injured on an attempted slide and left the field with a knee injury. Despite the loss the Browns turned to Brandon Weeden and a stout defense to jump to a 17-10 lead.

Buffalo’s lack of defensive judgement led to a bad pass interference call, which in turn resulted in a Bills’ first down at the Cleveland 1-yard line. Fred Jackson ran in the short touchdown. This was followed up with a Buffalo field goal which held the lead until just over five minutes remained in the first half.

Brandon Weeden entered the game to a chorus of boos, but quickly swayed the crowd as he orchestrated a long drive that resulted in a Willis McGahee touchdown.

This was quickly followed by a 79-yard punt return for a touchdown by Travis Benjamin, allowing Cleveland to take the lead into the half.
