Texans RB injuries: Ben Tate cleared to play, Arian Foster a game-time decision

Tate will be on the field against the Colts on Sunday night. Whether Foster will join him is still up in the air.

The Houston Texans will have at least part of their dynamic running back duo on hand against the Indianapolis Colts this weekend. Backup Ben Tate has been cleared to play in Sunday night's AFC South showdown, though starter Arian Foster remains a game-time decision, according to NBC Sports.

Head coach Gary Kubiak told reporters earlier in the week that he was "very concerned" about both backs coming out of last week's bye and was uncertain if either would take the field against the Colts. Tate, who cracked four ribs in a Week 7 game against the Kansas City Chiefs, has decided to tough it out and will get the starting nod if Foster is unable to go.

Foster is in danger of missing his first game since the 2011 season due to a hamstring injury he suffered on the Texans’ first possession against the Chiefs. Kubiak said Foster had a better day of practice on Friday than he did Thursday but that his status would likely not be known until just before kickoff.

The Texans bolstered their roster this week in the wake of the injuries, signing three new running backs. Deji Karim, Dennis Johnson and Ray Graham are all possibilities to spell Tate if Foster can't suit up.
