Jaguars vs. Titans 2013 final score: Late defensive TD gives Jacksonville its 1st win, 29-27

Kiss 0-16 goodbye. The Jaguars held off a late Titans rally to pick up their first win of 2013.

The Jacksonville Jaguars are winless no more.

A stifling defensive performance and a late turnover gave the Jags a 29-27 win over the Tennessee Titans on Sunday, their first of 2013. The Jaguars, now 1-8, hadn't won since Nov. 25, 2012, a victory that also came at the expense of the Titans.

The Titans battled back from nine-point deficit in the fourth quarter and had the ball with three minutes remaining trailing by two. Jacksonville's Will Blackmon sealed the victory when he stripped Ryan Fitzpatrick of the ball and took it 21 yards back for a touchdown.

A late Tennessee touchdown cut the lead to two points, but the Titans couldn’t recover the onside kick.

The Titans had climbed back into the game when Fitzpatrick, filling in for an injured Jake Locker, rushed in for a four-yard score to make it 22-20.

The loss drops Tennessee to 4-5 and delivers a blow to the team’s hopes of making the playoffs for the first time since 2008.

The Jags built an early 17-point lead in the first half thanks to a six-yard touchdown run from Maurice Jones-Drew and field goals of 44 and 32 yards from Josh Scobee. The touchdown was Jones-Drew's only highlight of the day, as his disappointing season continued with only 41 yards on 21 carries.

The Titans got on the board win Ryan Fitzpatrick hit Taylor Thompson for a nine-yard touchdown pass in the final minute of the first half.

Fitzpatrick was called in after starter Locker was forced out of the game in the second quarter with a foot injury. Fitzpatrick was impressive, connecting on his first seven passes and leading the Titans down for their first score.

The Jaguars went back up by 13 when Jordan Todman rushed into the endzone from five yards out to make it 20-7 with just over 10 minutes remaining in the third quarter.

Rob Bironas field goals of 37 and 39 then pulled the Titans back to within one possession. The Jaguars then got a safety when the Titans' Chance Warmack was called for a holding penalty in the endzone.

Fantasy studs and duds

Fitzpatrick played well -- 264 yards and two touchdowns -- and could be a solid fantasy play if Locker’s injury is serious. Chris Johnson was awful, rushing for just 30 yards and fumbling twice.

Jones-Drew found the endzone but averaged just two yards per carry. Chad Henne can't claim much credit for the win, as he went 14-of-23 for 180 yards, no touchdowns and two picks.

Injury report

Locker injured his foot in the second quarter and did not return. He reemerged on the sideline in the second half with crutches.

Did they cover?

The Titans entered the game as 11-point favorites, according to Oddsshark.com, and did not cover the spread.
