Jay Cutler injury: Bears QB out Week 11, Josh McCown to start

Cutler was injured in his return from a groin injury and will miss some time with a high ankle sprain. Josh McCown will start Week 11 against the Ravens.

Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler is back on the mend after suffering a left ankle injury in Week 10 that the team is calling a high ankle sprain and will have him "week-to-week," according to Rich Campbell of the Chicago Tribune.

UPDATE: Head coach Marc Trestman announced Monday that Cutler will sit Week 11 against the Baltimore Ravens, according to ESPN's Jeff Dickerson. Josh McCown will start.

Cutler, 30, missed the team's Week 9 game against the Green Bay Packers after suffering torn groin muscle in Week 7, but returned to the lineup against the Detroit Lions on Sunday. After a strong start to the game, Cutler was noticeably limping in the second half and was eventually replaced by Josh McCown for the final drive.

Head coach Marc Trestman said on Monday that he made a mistake not pulling Cutler earlier after McCown led the team down the field for a late touchdown, although a failed two point conversion attempt gave the Lions a 21-19 victory.

Cutler completed 21-of-40 passes for 250 yards, one touchdown and one interception against the Lions. In eight starts in 2013, Cutler has completed 63 percent of his passes for 1,908 yards, 13 touchdowns and eight interceptions. He is scheduled to become a free agent after the 2013 season.
