The Houston Texans parted ways with veteran safety Ed Reed after he lost his starting job and became a rotational defensive back, but the New York Jets have utmost faith in the eight-time All Pro. Reed isn't just playing in Week 11, he's starting according to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News.
Ed Reed will start for Jets vs. Bills
Ed Reed will start for the Jets less than a week after signing with New York.

Keepers Week 11
Matt Ufford offers you fantasy advice on Riley Cooper, Colin Kaepernick, Bills running backs and more.Reed elected to continue playing after a 2012 Super Bowl win with the Baltimore Ravens. He didn't follow the path of former teammate Ray Lewis into retirement, instead signing with the Texans, who were believed to be poised for a deep run in the playoffs. Quarterback inconsistency caused the season to go up in smoke, and it quickly became apparent Reed was no longer the dynamic game-changer he was with the Ravens.
These recent struggles aren't scaring Jets head coach Rex Ryan. He knows Reed well from his time in Baltimore where he served as defensive coordinator from 1999-to-2008. Starting safety Antonio Allen sustained a concussion in Week 10, making the team's switch to Reed a necessity.
Reed last played against the Buffalo Bills in 2010, where he recorded four tackles and two interceptions. If the Jets can get a fraction of this performance his signing will have paid off.
