The alleged incident between a referee and Trent Williams isn’t the first time the referee has been accused of swearing at a player.

Mike Pereira, the former vice president of officiating and current rules analyst for FOX Sports, said Ellison was accused of swearing at a player when Pereira was the VP of officiating. Pereira, who made the claim during an episode of Fox Football Daily, said there was no proof and instead it was a he said, she said situation.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported NFL security is looking into the claims. Pereira called a suspension “likely” if the NFL is able to prove Williams’ claims.
Washington offensive lineman Kory Lichtensteiger said he heard the comments. He said he was wearing a microphone and Ellison's comments would be audible on the recording. Head referee Walt Coleman refused to answer questions about the incident after the game.
