After an 0-6 start, the New York Giants have a little bit of life in the second half of the season.

Al BelloThe Raiders weren’t very careful with the football themselves, turning it over twice, including a first-quarter blocked punt that Cooper Taylor returned 21 yards for a touchdown. Oakland falls to 3-6, while the Giants improve to the same 3-6 record.

Jim O’Connor-USA TODAY SportsBut that’s nothing. It was only about a month ago that we posted a similar story about a team.
It was the Oakland Raiders and the amount needed for a first down was 48 yards. You’d think that with their experience on long third downs that completing this would have been easy for the Raiders but alas they fell short and had to punt.

Bob Donnan-USA TODAY SportsPierre-Paul had offseason back surgery but has not missed a regular season game in his career. He did note earlier this season that he was not at 100-percent and likely would not be there until next year. At this time it appears his current ailment is to another area.
After recording 16.5 sacks in 2011, Pierre-Paul has just 7.5 sacks in his last 24 games dating back to the start of the 2012 season. He has only one sack in 2013.

Nick LahamNew York looks incredibly dead in the water at 0-6, but has risen to at least provide its fans with some hope heading into the winter chill. Manning has been mostly dreadful this season, but after throwing a league-high 15 interceptions through the first six games, has provided a clean sheet over the last two contests. This has to continue for Big Blue to have any hope.
On defense, the biggest problem has been the complete lack of a pass rush. The Giants only have 10 sacks on the season, ranking them dead last. Overall, New York has the 14th defense in yards per game allowed but have given up way too many points at 27.9, coming in 28th.

Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY SportsStill, despite the fact that the Raiders have a better record, the Giants are favored significantly. They opened as 7-point favorites, but the line has widened in their favor on most books, according to OddsShark. They could be had as high as 9-point favorites midweek.
Perhaps that’s because the Raiders just allowed NIck Foles to throw for a whopping seven touchdowns in a Week 9 beatdown, or maybe home-field advantage matters more when it’s two bad teams playing. Either way, that’s the way it looks to oddsmakers.
