Christian Ponder to remain Vikings starter, provided he can win
Christian Ponder has a chance to keep starting, but he faces a tough task.

Ponder regained his starting job after free agent signee Josh Freeman was injured and ineffective in his only start for Minnesota. Ponder played his two best games of the season over the last two weeks -- throwing for 381 yards and posting a passer rating of 84.6. This resurgence isn't enough to cement him as a the long-term starter, as the Vikings aren't willing to commit to him for the remainder of the season.

The team's next five opponents are extremely difficult outside of a Week 10 matchup against the Washington Redskins. Minnesota is slated to face the Seahawks, Packers and Bears -- all sitting above .500 and leading their respective divisions.
It’s unclear whether Ponder will remain with the Vikings in 2014, but the key for now is to win games -- and there’s no indication Minnesota knows how to do that.
