Jaguars vs. Browns 2013 results: Cleveland falls, 32-28, despite record day from Josh Gordon

Gordon became the first player in NFL history to record consecutive 200-yard receiving games, but couldn’t pull the Browns past a last-minute Jacksonville touchdown.

A record day from Josh Gordon wasn't enough to carry the Cleveland Browns, who lost 32-28 to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Gordon broke his own franchise single-game receiving record -- which he set last week against the Pittsburgh Steelers -- with a 261-yard performance and became the first receiver in NFL history to break the 200-yard mark in consecutive games.

His 95-yard touchdown reception with just under four minutes gave the Browns a three-point lead and looked to have sealed their fifth victory. But with just 40 seconds remaining, Jaguars quarterback Chad Henne found Cecil Shorts III for a 20-yard touchdown to give Jacksonville its third win of the season.

After the teams traded touchdowns to start the game, the Browns seemed to grab the momentum with a 21-yard strike from Brandon Weeden to Gordon to go up 14-7. Gordon now has six touchdowns of at least 20 yards this season, tying him with Antonio Brown for the league lead.

Then Weeden decided to turn back into, well, Brandon Weeden. The struggling quarterback -- forced back into the starting role after a Week 12 concussion to Jason Campbell -- unravelled for three turnovers in a two and a half minute stretch to close the half. Back-to-back interceptions preceded a sack-fumble and allowed Jacksonville to score 13 unanswered points.

The Jags capitalized on Weeden's first pick when running back Maurice Jones-Drew pulled up on a trick play to hit Marcedes Lewis for an 8-yard touchdown.

The Browns regained the lead and momentum in the third quarter after a 10-play, 80-yard drive put them back up 21-20. Weeden bounced back from his second-quarter disaster to hit Greg Little for a 4-yard touchdown.

Disaster would strike again in the fourth quarter for the Browns. Backed up deep in their own territory, the center snapped the ball over Weeden’s head and into the end zone. Weeden did the only thing he could do, scampering back and kicking the ball out of the back of the end zone, which resulted in an illegal kicking penalty and a safety. The Jaguars would use the resulting possession to add a field goal and go up 25-21.

Fantasy studs and duds

Gordon owners got another monster day as the wideout added 10 catches and a two touchdowns to his record yardage total. Weeden’s numbers were decent as a result -- 370 yards and three touchdowns -- but they mask what was actually a poor performance.

Jones-Drew was off to a strong start, but faded in the second half. He finished with 77 yards rushing and no touchdowns on the ground, but got a cheap score on his trick pass. Shorts was the strongest receiving option for the Jags, grabbing six catches for 64 yards and a touchdown.

Injury report

Gordon was knocked out the game with a head injury at one point, but passed concussion tests and returned to cap his record day.
