Geno Smith remains the starting quarterback for the New York Jets, but things continued to get worse on Sunday against the Raiders after Smith threw an early interception. It was his league-leading 20th interception of the season, but he quickly found a little redemption, hitting Jeremy Kerley for a 25-yard touchdown in the first quarter to give the Jets a 10-0 lead.
Jets vs Raiders: Geno Smith ends streak of 5 games without a touchdown pass
It had been well over a month since Smith last found the end zone through the air, and the Jets are staying alive for a wild card berth.

It was Smith's ninth touchdown pass of the year, but his first since October 20 against the New England Patriots. Smith had thrown no touchdowns and eight interceptions over his last five games, as the Jets went 1-4 and head coach Rex Ryan came very close to making the switch to backup Matt Simms.
Smith was pulled from last week's 23-3 loss to the Miami Dolphins after he was 4-of-10 for 29 yards and an interception. He presently is 5-of-8 for 96 yards against Oakland as they start the second quarter. Smith hasn't thrown for 200 yards since that 30-27 upset of the Patriots.
