Terrell Suggs injury update: Ravens LB waits for 2nd opinion on surgery

Baltimore Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs is waiting on a second opinion on whether or not he’ll need surgery to repair a torn biceps.

USA TODAY Sports

Baltimore Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs may be celebrating a Super Bowl victory, but he may have to get back to business as usual sooner rather than later. According to the Baltimore Sun, Suggs and the team are waiting to hear the results of a second opinion on whether or not Suggs will need surgery on his right arm.

Suggs has a torn biceps in the arm, an injury he suffered on Dec. 2 in just his sixth game back following recovery from another surgery last offseason. In early May, Suggs had surgery to repair a partially torn right Achilles tendon and came back fewer than six months later, earlier than the expected recovery window.

The biceps injury suffered in December only caused Suggs to miss one game, but he was definitely depleted during the remainder of the regular season. He did show up with a couple of sacks in the playoffs, and wasn’t a liability in the Super Bowl, though. Still, he finished the regular season with just two sacks and 22 tackles, and only played in eight games total.

Throughout the injury this season, Suggs and the Ravens suggested that offseason surgery was a possibility, but it’s safe to say the 30-year-old Pro Bowler would like to avoid it if it’s all the same to the recovery process.
