Former Oakland Raiders quarterback JaMarcus Russell is getting some help on his comeback attempt to the NFL from a former teammate, according to the San Jose Mercury News. Russell will be assisted in his attempted return to the league by Jeff Garcia, who is a partner of TEST West Football Academy in San Diego.
Jeff Garcia aids JaMarcus Russell in comeback attempt
JaMarcus Russell is getting some help from Jeff Garcia in his attempt to make a comeback to the NFL.

According to the report, Russell began workouts last week at the facilities, and Garcia has already started putting Russell through drills designed to improve his passing, footwork and overall conditioning. Another former NFL player, Marshall Faulk, said that he'll help Russell after he determines whether or not Russell is in it for the money or if he really wants to return to the league.
The news that Russell was going to attempt a comeback at the NFL came out in January, when it was reported that Russell wanted to “show them I’m not (a bust).” SB Nation’s Raiders blog, Silver and Black Pride, clearly doesn’t think much of Russell or his attempted comeback.
He’s got a lot to do to prove himself. Russell has consistently been labeled as a player with zero effort or drive to get things done, and washed out of the league after three seasons. He started one game in his rookie season, then started 15 in his second season.
In that second season, he threw 13 touchdowns and eight interceptions, which actually wasn’t that bad. But his third season was a horror show, as Russell threw three touchdowns against a whopping 11 interceptions and completed just 48 percent of his passes.
Russell has a very long road back, but it’s good to see he has some legitimate people potentially working with him in Garcia and Faulk. But given that this is a player who was reportedly fired by his own life coach (the person who is paid to never give up on you) a couple years back, let’s not hold our breath.
