New England Patriots corner Alfonzo Dennard is hoping to get his trial wrapped up on Wednesday, according to the Boston Herald. All of this is stemming from allegations that Dennard punched a police officer outside of a bar last April, just days before the NFL Draft.

Closing arguments have been presented and now it’s up to the jury to make a decision of Dennard’s fate.
Dennard claims that he never punched a policeman but does admit to having resisted arrest and punching another man during the incident. The prosecution has brought forth a cellphone video of the alleged assault, but the defense has argued it’s inconclusive.
If Dennard is convicted of striking the officer, which is a felony, he could face jail time. This would be a huge blow to New England, which already has a very shaky secondary. Dennard, a rookie last year, is expected to be a starter this season after showing promise last season, picking off three passes.
