2013 NFL combine results: Dion Jordan much heavier than expected

Dion Jordan has added weight heading into the NFL scouting combine.

Dion Jordan of the Oregon Ducks wanted to bulk up to 250 pounds, according to Yahoo.com, before the NFL scouting combine. He came really close.

Jordan, who played around 226 pounds last year at Oregon, trained in an MMA format and weighed in at 248 pounds on Saturday in Indianapolis, according to Bryan Broaddus:

The Oregon product gives himself much more versatility and viability in the NFL at that weight. Now teams can look at him as a 3-4 outside linebacker who can hold the point of attack on the run game, as well as a potential defensive end in a 4-3 scheme.

If Jordan shows that he hasn’t lost any of his quickness and lateral movement, he could really shoot up the draft boards and solidify himself as a top-10 selection.

Jordan doesn't fit a need for the Kansas City Chiefs, but he could go to the Jacksonville Jaguars at No. 2 overall and certainly the Oakland Raiders a pick after that. If he goes in the top-three selections, he would be the first Oregon player to do so since Joey Harrington was taken by the Detroit Lions third overall back in 2002.

One popular notion is that Jordan will be taken by the Philadelphia Eagles and his old college coach Chip Kelly. The Eagles do need defensive help, so that is certainly something to keep an eye on going forward.
