Baltimore Ravens sign David Reed to 2-year contract

The Baltimore Ravens agreed to a two-year contract with WR/KR David Reed on Tuesday, allowing the team to focus its attention on free agents elsewhere.

David Reed re-signed with the Baltimore Ravens on Tuesday, giving the team one less thing to worry about with the NFL Free Agency period set to begin at 4 p.m. ET. Reed signed a two-year deal worth a maximum of almost $2.5 million that includes a $500,000 signing bonus.

Reed missed 11 games last season while on the physically unable to perform list while recovering from a torn ACL. He might have been seen as a potential cap casualty, but he will be returning to the Ravens on the cheap, making less than his $1.323 original-round tender.

Reed has just five receptions for 66 yards over three seasons with the Ravens. He is a valuable return man, however. During his rookie season, Reed led the NFL averaging 29.3 yards per kickoff return. With Anquan Boldin heading to the San Francisco 49ers, Reed also gives the Ravens some depth at wideout.

Baltimore can now focus more its attention on inside linebacker Dannell Ellerbe, who has been considered the team's top free agent priority since the offseason began.
