Paul Kruger rumors: Browns ‘closing in’ on Ravens linebacker in free agency
The Cleveland Browns are reportedly closing in on a deal for outside linebacker Paul Kruger. Where will the pass rusher fit within Cleveland’s defense?
Nothing is official yet, of course. The Browns are in need of a pass rusher, however, and have plenty of space to maneuver under the salary cap, so the move would make sense. Kruger came on strong in 2012, recording nine sacks among his 42 tackles during the regular season. He was a force during the Ravens' playoff run, racking up 4.5 sacks in four games including 2.0 during the Super Bowl.
With Juqua Parker becoming a free agent, Kruger could slide nicely into the Browns’ linebacking corps opposite Jabaal Sheard. Assuming the deal goes through, the Browns should see in an improvement on the 38 sacks they posted last season.
With Kruger in tow, the Browns could turn their attention to other pressing needs such as at quarterback, cornerback and on special teams.
