Lions sign DeAngelo Hall, according to report

The Detroit Lions moved fast to shore up their secondary on Tuesday.

The Detroit Lions moved quickly to address their secondary needs in free agency, and they did not even have to wait until the opening bell at 4:00 p.m. ET. Detroit signed former Redskins cornerback DeAngelo Hall on Tuesday afternoon, according to a report from Kevin Jones.

Hall was released by the Washington Redskins on Monday, saving the cash-strapped team $8 million in cap space this year. His deal with the Lions is unknown at this time.

The 10-year veteran spent the last four and a half seasons in Washington. His play has slowed over the years, and he struggled with consistency with the Redskins. There was some talk that Washington might be interested in bringing him back at a lower rate, but the Lions apparently struck first.

Detroit may not be finished adding cornerbacks, especially with Chris Houston a free agent. The Lions have the fifth pick in the draft, and could be looking closely at Alabama corner Dee Milliner, the top defensive back available this year. There are also a number of free agents on the market, but with limited cap space, the Lions will have to choose wisely.

Hall is an interesting fit with the Lions. He’s been in trouble for his on-field antics, and the Lions have had a tough time shaking their reputation for lacking discipline.
