Cleveland Browns sign Quentin Groves to 2-year contract

The former Cardinal will join defensive coordinator Ray Horton in Cleveland, which is making the transition to a 3-4 defense.

The Cleveland Browns have signed linebacker Quentin Groves to a two-year deal, according to a tweet from ESPN's Adam Schefter. The terms of the agreement have not yet been disclosed. Groves spent the 2012 season with the Arizona Cardinals, and had 46 tackles and a forced fumble.

The Browns were rumored to be interested in Groves for the past several weeks, and as it turns out, the rumors were true. He will be playing for his old defensive coordinator with the Cardinals, Ray Horton, who left Arizona to take the Cleveland defensive coordinator job after he didn't become the head coach in the desert. Prior to coming to Arizona, Groves spent time with the Oakland Raiders and Jacksonville Jaguars, who drafted him in the second round in 2008.

Groves has played outside linebacker in 3-4 schemes, and his signing should help the Browns in transitioning from a 4-3 to a 3-4. He should be the odds-on favorite to land one of the starting jobs at outside linebacker, seeing as he has experience in the scheme.
