The Buffalo Bills have signed linebacker Manny Lawson, according to a tweet from Lawson's agent. The parameters of the deal have not been released at this point. Lawson spent the past two seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals, and registered 39 tackles and two sacks during the 2012 season.
NFL free agency: Buffalo Bills sign Manny Lawson
The Buffalo Bills addressed a major need by signing former Bengals and 49ers linebacker Manny Lawson on Wednesday.
The addition of Lawson addresses arguably the biggest need position on Buffalo's roster. The Bills had one of the worst linebacking corps in the NFL last year, and needed to get more flexible under new defensive coordinator Mike Pettine. Lawson should slot in right away as a starter at outside linebacker in Buffalo, where he will be rejoining his former college teammate, Mario Williams, in the front seven.
In eight seasons in the NFL with the San Francisco 49ers and Cincinnati Bengals, Lawson has 331 tackles, 18 sacks, and seven forced fumbles.
